By Annabel

They have a special tongue that goes in and gets nectar from flowers. The tongue looks like a straw but black.
By Poppy

They use their proboscis. The proboscis is their tongue. They suck nectar out of the flowers. They stick their proboscis in the flower and they curl there proboscis up after they have finished eating.

Guess how many sticks are in the jar

In class we have been estimating how many objects are in the jar. Then we have been checking how close our guess was.

Can you guess how many sticks are in the jar. We are going to check on Monday and we will let you know how many there are. We will add your guess to our number line.

Violin Performance

We enjoyed listening to Daisy Bell, Pennsylvania 6-5000 and Mattachins today.

The life cycle of a monarch butterfly

Today at buddies we shared our books that we made about the life cycle of a monarch butterfly. Then we made a big size life cycle of the monarch butterfly for the wall.

Here is our finished display.

Have you ever met a scientist?

Have you ever met a scientist? Well, on Wednesday I saw a real scientist. He told us about insects and showed us pictures on the TV. I learnt a lot from him. He showed us spiders that can camouflage themselves. They turn the same colour as flowers which I didn't know. Simon is clever. He showed us a web and it looked like the sky. If flies try to go threw it the spiders will trap them. By Charlotte.
Can you see the crab spider? It is camouflaged.
On Wednesday Simon showed us some insects and mammals. My favourite was a spider that could change colour. Simon showed us a gigantic spider web and it looked like it could catch a human. By Izzy

We went to Room 1 to look at pictures of spiders. My favourite was the one with four eyes. It was fun and there was lots to learn. By Nathan

Symmetrical Butterflies

Today in Discovery we made symmetrical butterflies. To make them you need to only paint on one side of the butterfly. Then you fold it in half. When you unfold it, it looks like a butterfly.

How to write a sentence.

We upgraded Mrs O'C's sentence.
The caterpillar is eating a leaf.

Albatross by Jaxon.

In class we watched a YouTube clip on the flight of an albatross. We then imagined we were the albatross and described our flight.
I heard the sea's waves crashing down on the beach.
I saw schools and buildings on the ground.
I felt tingly inside.
I felt happy because I was gliding in the sky
I wondered if I would fall and die or keep on flying.
