Can you guess which country Mr Waddles and Mrs O'C are now visiting?

CLUE 1:   The wildlife.

Mr Waddles got to meet a whole lot of new animal friends including squirrels, musk rats, raccoons, chipmunks, woodpeckers, water snakes and even a moose (but not the chocolate variety).

We saw this moose in the wild.  A moose sheds it's antlers every year and then grows new ones.
Here is a picture of what a moose looks like with antlers.

We visited a bear centre. We learnt about bears and what to do if we saw them in the wild.

When we were canoeing we saw a beaver lodge. This is the name for the house the beaver builds to live in. Can you see it in the photo? The beavers get into the lodge by swimming underneath. They can chop down trees with their sharp teeth.

This turtle just wondered across the grass where we were staying.

CLUE 2:  The Flag.

CLUE 3: Famous Landmarks- natural and man made.

Here is Mr Waddles next to Niagara Falls. This is a famous waterfall because it has the most water flowing over it in the world.

The CN Tower is a famous landmark in Toronto. Toronto is a city in this country just like Christchurch is a city in New Zealand.

Have you guessed which country we have just visited from the clues?

Here is one more clue if you need more help.

CLUE 4:
This country is above the United States of America (USA). You might like to look at a map of the world to help you.

The next place we are about to visit is known for its 10,000 lakes and is back in the USA. See if you can find Minnesota on a map of America.

New York

Howdy Room 10
Mr Waddles and I had a fun time in New York. There are a lot of skyscrapers. This is a famous skyscraper called the Empire State Building.

This is Times Square.

Here is Mr Waddles waving to the Statue of Liberty.

Finally some grass for Mr Waddles to run around in. This is Central Park. It is a huge park in the middle of New York. Lots of New Yorkers live in apartments so they don't have a back yard to run around in, instead they play in Central Park.

Bonjour

Bonjour from France. We've had an action packed few days here in Paris. Mr Waddles has sore but "happy feet" after lots of walking and taking in the sites of this beautiful city. We also managed to fit in a fun-filled day in Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios.

Have a look at the photos of Monsieur Waddles below to see if you can match them to the following famous Parisian sites:

The Louvre
Sacre Coeur
The Eiffel Tower
The River Seine
Arc De Triomphe

Bok from Croatia

Bok Room 10, ( that means hello in Croatian)
Mr Waddles and my family have been having fun in Croatia.
Can you find Croatia on the map?

This is the Croatian Flag.

Mr Waddles has liked being next to the sea again and trying the different fish.

I have loved eating gelato (ice cream).

Mr Waddles has also liked looking at all the old buildings and fortresses.

This is the old town in Dubrovnik. Can you see the big wall surrounding it. The city wall was built in the 13th century to stop different people invading the city. Mr Waddles and I walked the city wall which was fun.

Dovidenja (Bye)

Mr Waddles visits London

Hello from London,
Mr Waddles and my family have been busy visiting lots of places in London.  London is the capital city of England. Just like Wellington is the capital city of New Zealand.

We went on a open top bus tour.
Here is Mr Waddles outside Buckingham Palace. This is where the Queen lives when she is in London.

The clock tower in the background is very famous. Do you know the name of the bell in the clock?

Mr Waddles really liked Tower Bridge because it can open up to let boats through.

Meet Mr Waddles

Hi Room 10,
I would like you to meet Mr Waddles.
Mr Waddles is joining me on my trip. Here he is on our first stop in Hong Kong. Can you guess what sort of penguin he is? I bet Barnaby, Tainui, Izzy, Charlotte, Caitlin and Jaxson might know.

In Hong Kong we visited a huge Buddha and we had fun at Hong Kong Disneyland.
Mr Waddles really liked the food.
Now we are in England which is part of the United Kingdom(UK).
See if you can find Hong Kong and England on a map of the world.
It took 12 hours to fly to Hong Kong and then another 14 hours to fly to London. That would be like going to school in the morning and staying there all day and all night. Then the next day going home at morning tea!
