I want a bird so we can look at him and so we can have another baby bird. I want him to be colourful and so we can talk to him and so we can watch him swing in his cage.

Rainbow Lorikeets
They can be found in Queensland, Australia.

The young birds have black beaks and the adults have orange beaks.

They live in rainforests.

The young birds have black beaks and the adults have orange beaks.

They have a tongue that can get nectar from flowers.

My cat gets scared of people and rolls all over the house. When my cat gets excited he jumps on peoples knees. When he purrs his tail goes down. We never take him for walks because he never lets us. When it was Zinzan’s birthday we got him 4 cat balls. He likes the sound of the rain because his ears go up and down. Zinzan is really good at kicking small balls. Zinzan sometimes carries flies. Coco visits Room 10

Boing, boing, boing there’s a frog in the classroom. His name is Coco but you can’t see him bouncing because he is hibernating. He is brown and green, and he is two years old. Coco is in a tank. He's got water and plants and stones. There is a net on top of the tank. Coco has got his eyes open while he is sleeping. He is a green, golden bell frog. He belongs to Room 21 but we are borrowing him to see what it is like to have a pet frog. I wonder what will happen when it’s spring.

Can you see Coco?

We had lots of questions.

Pet of the Day.

Last week for reading we checked out this website -    http://petoftheday.com/archive/
to see what the pet of the day was.

For writing we decided to write about our pets so we could have our own 'Room 10 Pet of the Day'.

Here's the first Room 10 pet of the day:

Our Puppet Pets

We are making puppet pets this week in reading for our special activity.

Yesterday's Miss Dovey's kitten, Missy, came and visited Room 10. She had a good look around our classroom. We decided we are not going to have a cat for our class pet because it could go out the door and we would have to take it with us if we went somewhere. Missy was also distracting us from our work and someone in our class is allergic to cats. By Riley

Room 10's measurements

This week we learnt to measure with pink rods. I measured my foot and my hands too. I also measured  my body, it was so long. It was 41 pink rods long . It was funny today our buddies came to help measure us too.
By Caitlin

This week we have been learning how to measure with rods. Today my buddy measured my body using centimetres. I was 123cm tall. I was so impressed with myself. We made our own people that are as tall as me. We are going to put our people in a time capsule.
By Jak

This week we have been learning how to measure ourselves.  With our buddies we measured our wrist, thumb, head, foot and waist with string. It's fun. We took photos. I hope I get taller soon.

This is the time capsule being made during Discovery. We are going to put our measurement people in the time capsule and we will take them out in December and see if our measurements have changed!
